Well I hope everyone was able to enjoy the long weekend, I did. Spend time sitting by the campfire roasting marshmallows and making grill-a-dogs with the family and visiting my parents for my step-mother's birthday. I finished my weekend with the Cali parade with my scouting group and working in my flower beds. I must say I'm glad today is a slow day, as my busy weekend wore me out.
Since it was my step-mom's birthday this past weekend, I will be sharing the card I made for her. I used the same Flourishes stamp as I did for Zach's teacher. I sponged the sunset with 5 different colours of ink this time. I used CTMH Sunny yellow (retired), creme burlee, sunset, autumn terracotta and goldrush. I used a circle cut from a post it note to mask out the sun. I started by masking out where I wanted the sun to be and sponged the sunset starting with the lightest colour
.
I coloured the flowers with different shades of blue. I stamped several imagines as I popped up the flowers with 3D foam tape. I used the butterfly and sentiment stamp from the same set. I rolled the wings of the butterfly to give them a 3D look but its hard to see that in my picture.
For the inside of the card I sponged a sunset and stamped the flowers in black along the edge of the sunset and layered it with red paper as I did one the front.
My step-mother loved the card, mind you she loves all the cards I gave her. She told me she keeps all the card that I make for her and my dad and put them in a special box. I'm so glad that they love them that much!
Well that's all for today. Thanks for stopping by!
I'm not sure if anyone else has had this happen but it always seem to happen at this house. We are coming home last night from Cub Scouts and my son Zach says to me, " Mom, I need a card for my teacher for her birthday and it's tomorrow"! Well, I just kinda of look at him, not to sure if he joking or not. Well he's not joking. Lucky for him that keep a small box of cards that I made but have not put a sentiment in them, just for those last minute "Mom I need.....
This is one of most favourite stamps sets. This flower stamp is by Flourishes and the bird is a Stampin Up stamp. I stamped the flower image on watercolour paper and watercoloured it. I absolutely love to colour, wither it is watercolour or alcohol markers. I find it very relaxing.
I used 3 different shades of blue ink and sponged a piece of white cardstock to make the sky. I stamped the flower image twice and coloured both of them as I wanted to pop up the flowers with 3D foam tape. The bird is as watercoloured and I just tucked him in the flowers.
The black and pink paper in behind I embossed with a polka dot embossing folder from Stampin up. I decided not to put any sentiments on the front of the card as I liked it without.
For the inside of the card I layered the black and pink paper again and stamped Happy Birthday and Wishing yo Happiness and Sunshine.
Well that's all for today and thanks for stopping by!
Well its Mother's Day today and I hope that all you mom's, grandma's and every other lady that has children in there lives had a great day. I got treated to dinner with my family which was so nice and a few new crafty things. LOL. I thought for today I would share a group of cards that was made by the CCE group that I belong to.
As you can tell from the photo that these ladies are so very talented!! There are some cards not in this photo unfortunately and they are just a amazing as these ones! These cards are made by Krista, Tracy, Debbie, Theresa, Michelle and myself. My card is the one with the hot balloon on it.
The stamp set I used is a CTHM set called Give a lift. I watercoloured the hot air balloon and I added some glitter to the center of the flowers. To make the sunset I used creme brulee, buttercup, sunset and autumn terracotta CTMH ink that I sponged on white cardstock. I then embossed the paper with a cloud embossing folder from Stampin Up. I also sponged a sunset for the inside of the card. I added some black ribbon to the front, I know these are not the usual colours for a Mother's Day card but I think it turned out great. This is picture is not the greatest one I have but it does give a close up of the card. Well that's all for today, thanks for stopping by.

Hi everyone. Today I'm going to share a baby banner that I was asked to make for a friend. I have made lots of these over the last year for friends and family. I love to make these almost more than cards. This one is a jungle themed , which seems to be the choice of themes this year, even for girls.
This banner is made from foam core board and paper. I find that using just paper alone, doesn't make for a long lasting banner. The paper curls and bends out of shape to fast. By using the foam core board, it last way longer and lays flat against the wall. It is also very light weight so you don't need nails to hang them on the wall. All I use is command strips to hang them.
For this banner I cut the banner pieces using my cricut and the CTMH Art Philosophy cart. I cut them a 5 1/2" and than I embossed each piece of paper. To cut the foam core board, I use a hot knife that comes in a wood burning kit. You can use a sharp knife, but the cut edge doesn't come out as smooth. By using the hot knife you only have to sand the edges a little.
Once you have all that done, you can go a head and glue the embossed paper to the front and back of each panel. I cut a strip of brown paper to cover the cut edge of these panels. This just gives it a finished edge but you could also use ribbon if you want.
After the edges are covered you can go ahead a start to decorate each panel. I used my Create A Critter and Create a Critter 2 carts to cut out the jungle animals. I also used Boys Will Be Boys cart to cut out the lizards and snakes. I used a small punch to make the flowers and the butterflies.
Once you have decorated each panel the way you want, you will need to punch small holes in each corner for the ribbon. I made the holes using my piercing tool from CTMH. I used a piece of ribbon in each hole and then tied them together to get a nice bow.
This banner was one of the biggest ones I've made so far and it did really turn out amazing. I know the person to whom this is going to will love it!! I have 4 more banners to make over the next 3 months and will share them as completed.
Thanks for stopping by today and I hope everyone has a great day!!
I thought I would share the special that CTMH is offering this month. I just love the printed Velum in the paper pack.. Mind you I seem to have a real passion for paper and this paper available only for the month of May with every $50 you spend.
You can make cards and scrapbook layouts with this amazing paper
Also don't forget that you can also get the stamp of the month for $5 with every $50 you spend.
If you would like to see what CTMH has to offer please feel free to visit my OBA. The link to that is at the side of the page.
I hope everyone was able to craft on Saturday for National Scrapbooking Day . I was lucky enough to be at a 2 day event as a CTMH vendor and a crafter. I had such a wonderful time meeting with new and old friends. I was able to finish my cards for my exchange group and my Mother-In-Law's birthday card.
So I thought I would share the card I made for my MIL's birthday card and it's a napkin fold card. I love how this card turned out, but it I must say that the folding part is a little confusing. At least for me. LOL. I got the idea for this card from a Split Coast Stampers tutorials. If you click on the link on the right you can go and find lots and lots of different tutorials.
For this card you will need: 1- 12"x12" piece of cardstock
1- 2 1/4" x 12" piece of cardstock
2- 12" x 12" pieces of patterned paper
scol-pal, bone folder, paper cutter, ribbon (optional)
border punch (optional)
Dies, inks and embellishments (optional)
To start of you will need to score the 12" x 12" cardstock base at 3" and 9". Than turn the paper 90 degrees and score again at 3" and 9". Fold on the score lines. You than have to mark the center of the paper with a small dot. Than you fold each corner to the center of the card and crease each fold. I than inked the edges of each fold on both sides. You can also use a border punch around the outside edge of the paper for a different look. Now comes the more interesting part, well at least for me. LOL.
Next you take each outside corner and push it toward the center. I have posted the video on how to make this card, as I find it easier to to watch how the folds go than trying to explain it myself.
After you have all the folds done you can start to cut the squares from the pattern paper. Since I didn't punch the edge of mine I didn't need all the sizes of squares the video calls for. I cut 1- 5 1/2 " square to put in the middle of the card. I used Lagoon cardstock for this. I than cut 2 - 5 1/2" squares from the rose patterned paper, 4- 3 3/4" squares of the rose paper and 4- 3 3/4" squares of Lagoon dotted paper. I than cut each square into 2 triangles. I did this by putting the square on my cutter with the points as my cutting start and finish. This is also in the video. As you can tell from the picture below the larger triangles go closest to the middle (front and back) and the smaller ones are placed on the outer edge of the card (front and back).
Once I glued all the triangles in place it was time to decorate the inside of the card. I used a retired Stamp of the month from CTMH for the roses. I water coloured the roses and added a little glitter glue to the center of some of the roses. I than stamped the sediment and added a small rhinestone for the dot of the i. When I glued the roses to the center of the card, I didn't glue right to the edge on the roses as I plan on adding a picture of my MIL from her party and either putting this into a shadow box or scrapbook.
I took the 2 1/4" x 12" piece of cardstock and punched the edges with a punch and added a smaller piece of printed paper to make the band that keeps the card closes. As I made my card differently than the video, my band was to short. So to make it a little bigger, I cut a Dollie style circle with the cricut using the Art Philosophy cartridge from CTMH and added a circle to the middle. I also used the same cricut cart to cut the butterfly and the roses. I also cut the 75 with my cricut, but I can't seem to remember which one I used. Sorry about that. Next time I better write in down. This card is a little fussy with the folding and so on but it is worth it in the end and makes for a special card for that special someone.
Well thanks for stopping by and checking out what I've been up to. I hope to get better with my recipes as I go on as doing this is all new to me!! Thanks again!
